Championship Betting Tips

There’s a busy schedule of fixtures in the SkyBet Championship on Saturday afternoon as the division also prepares for a busy festive period.

Each side must deal with four fixtures over the next 12 days, with full schedules on Boxing Day, next Sunday and New Year’s Day.

QPR v Leicester

Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off sees table toppers QPR take on third-placed Leicester City in a mouth-watering clash at Loftus Road.

Harry Redknapp could hand Yossi Benayoun his QPR debut after the Israeli international landed a short-term deal at the club whilst skipper Clint Hill is available again after illness.

Rangers are unbeaten in three in the league and have made their home ground a fortress so far this season, collecting 26 points out of a possible 30, a stat that makes them 6/5 favourites with William Hill.

Leicester’s Capital One Cup exploits were brought to an end by Manchester City on Tuesday who ran out 3-1 winners and Nigel Pearson’s side must now concentrate on the league.

The Foxes are on a poor run of late having picked up just one point from a possible nine and the best odds on them winning come from Bet 365 at 27/10.

You can catch this match live on Sky Sports 1 from 12:15pm.

Birmingham City v Nottingham Forest

After a terrible start to the season, Lee Clarke’s Birmingham side have steadied the ship and currently lie 15th going into the 3pm match against Nottingham Forest.

They’re currently unbeaten in six in the league and are my BET OF THE DAY to snatch the three points from the match, with Bet Victor offering odds of 2/1.

Billy Davies’ Forest side have slipped out of the play-offs following an uninspiring run which has seen them pick up just one win from the last five in the league.

They need a good run during the festive period to get back in amongst the front runners, and are priced at 6/4 with a number of bookies to win this one, including Paddy Power.

This match is available live via the Bet 365 streaming service.

Millwall v Middlesbrough

The tea-time kick-off in the Championship today sees two closely match teams doing battle as Millwall take on Middlesbrough at the New Den.

Just a point separates 18th placed Millwall with 19th placed Boro and Lions boss Steve Lomas must cope with the absences of Nicky Bailey and Richard Chaplow whilst Alan Dunne faces a late fitness test.

Millwall did the league double over the Teesiders last season, with a 3-1 win at home before taking a 2-1 victory at the Riverside in February but they are priced as slight outsiders heading into this one, Bet 365 proving the best value at 9/5.

Boro boss Aitor Karanka will be sweating on the fitness of both Jonathan Woodgate and Marvin Emnes ahead of the game.

The visitors have picked up just one win in their last seven although they have had to play a number of higher placed sides in recent weeks, including Leeds, Brighton and Derby. They are slight favourites for this one, Bet Victor pricing them at 17/10.

The game is live on Sky Sports 1 from 5:30pm.

There are plenty of other 3pm kick-offs to look out for on Saturday, including the Lancashire derby between Burnley v Blackpool and the Yorkshire derby between Leeds United and Barnsley.
