It’s all about derbies in this weekend’s set of Premier League fixtures with two tasty clashes between rivals on Sunday afternoon.
First off it’s the North-West clash between old foes Liverpool and Manchester United whilst later on it’s the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
There’s also West Brom v Swansea City as well as six other games taking place on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester City v Hull City
Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off sees Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City host Premier League newcomers Hull City.
The Citizens will be desperate to make up for last weekend’s match where they were deservedly beaten by another newly-promoted side, Cardiff City who ran out 3-2 winners in South Wales.
Steve Bruce’s Hull come off the back of their first win of the season after as they beat Norwich City 1-0 last Saturday but will be without the services of Yannick Sagbo who serves the first game of his three-match ban after being sent off in that match.
Manchester City should have no problems winning this one in their own back yard and the best odds available on that is 1/5 with Bet Victor. Hull will have their work cut out and the best price on a Tigers win is provided by Stan James at 18/1. This game is live from 12:45pm on BT Sport 1.
Liverpool v Manchester United
Liverpool have got off to a perfect start to the seasons with two wins out of two and would love to extend this record with a win over old rivals Manchester United.
However, they’ve lost the last three stagings of this fixture but an in-form Daniel Sturridge, who has netted 15 goal in the last 19 matches, will be their key to success if they are going to get something out of the game.
Manchester United will be hungry to spring back into life following the less than exciting 0-0 draw with Chelsea on Monday night and the defending league champions are currently underdogs to get the three points with the bookies, William Hill providing the best odds of 19/10.
Stan James offer the best prices on a Liverpool win at 13/8 whilst they also provide the best odds on a draw at 12/5. The match is live on Sky Sports 1 from 1:30pm.
Arsenal v Tottenham
The North London derby always seems to throw up exciting games, which is backed up with the stat of 31 goals in the last five meetings between the sides.
And this season, it’s also a story of contrasting transfer policies, with the Gunners having brought in only two players over the summer Yaya Sanogo and this week the return Mathieu Flamini, all for a grand total of £0.
Andre Villas-Boas in comparison has been much busier, with his latest tally now amassing seven transfers, totalling £109million.
The latest three arrivals at White Hart Lane arrived yesterday, with Vlad Chiriches joining from Steaua Bucharest, Erik Lamena coming from Roma and Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen arriving from Ajax. However, it is unlikely that these three will feature in Sunday’s game.
But will all the cash splashed help Spurs to only their second away North London derby win since 1993?
Well, the bookies aren’t convinced as Arsenal are favourites going into the game, with Paddy Power offering the best odds of 6/5. You can find fairly tempting prices of 5/2 with Stan James on a Spurs win.
You can watch this game live on Sky Sports 1 from 4pm on Sunday.
