Saturday’s Horse Racing Betting Tips

By Conor PhillipsGrand National Free Bet

A variety of top quality racing is on the cards for today, with the GT Exhibitions Hackwood Stakes at Newbury and the Darley Irish Oaks at Curragh two of the races in store for punters.

The ‘Retro At The Races’ meeting from Newbury is sure to supply some thrilling action for those attending or wishing to bet on high quality racing.

GT Exhibitions Hackwood Stakes (Group 3)

Krypton Factor has raced well this season, with the latest third in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes probably his best result so far. He leads the betting at 13/8 for the GT Exhibitions Hackwood Stakes with Betfred and is the one to beat here.

Heeraat and Hamza are the two challengers that make most appeal and they are currently 3/1 and 11/4 respectively (Stan James).

Sharps Brewery Steventon Stakes (Listed)

Godolphin saddle both leading contenders for the Sharps Brewery Steventon Stakes, with 9/4 favourite Royal Empire the leading fancy on the back of some impressive form in Dubai. His last race can be excused and if he can reinvent previous form, he can win this.

Stable mate Ocean War is next in the betting, currently at 10/3 best price with Stan James. He made a promising return from a 2 year break at Ascot last time and may be in with a chance if showing old form.

The rest of the field can’t be ignored though, with Mobaco the biggest outsider at 9/1 under champion jockey Richard Hughes.

The 15.50 Weatherbys Super Sprint looks a fantastic contest, with 24 quality horses due to battle over the short 5f distance. Lilbourne Lass has strong form claims here and Richard Hannon will be hoping she can follow up from her win in June today.

Lexington Rose and Biography represent good value, whilst Peniaphobia is the pick of Fahey’s entries and represents good value with proven form.

Darley Irish Oaks (Group 1)

The Darley Irish Oaks is biggest race of the day and Ralph Beckett’s TALENT is bidding to complete the Epsom/Curragh Oaks double. She looked impressive when winning the Epsom version in May and if she performs as she did on that occasion, the illustrious double may well be in her reach. TALENT leads the betting at 11/4 with Stan James, whilst Lady Cecil’s Riposte lies just behind at 3/1 with the same firm. Chicquita is a very interesting contender who is still a maiden but warrants serious respect for trainer A De Royer-Dupre.

Alive Alive Oh is another interesting contender and has given a good impression in her previous races and may well go one better again. She is a generous 6/1 with Bet365. Venus De Milo is the favourite of the Ballydoyle three and the trip should suit the unbeaten 3-year-old.

The Invesco Pension Consultants Minstrel Stakes should be a fantastic renewal, with the exciting Ballydoyle prospect, Darwin, leading the betting at short odds of 11/8 with William Hill.

Gordon Lord Byron has plenty of experience at the highest level which gives him obvious claims in this one. He is currently 13/8 with Boylesports so we should expect a very close contest.

Leitir Mor has two wins to his name, with the Group 3 victory at Leopardstown the best of those. This will be even harder though and he will struggle to compete with the two favourites. Darwin just gets the vote on the back of some fine performances.

There is plenty of other racing action across the UK throughout the day, with Cartmel, Market Rasen, Newmarket and Ripon all going ahead, before the evening action gets underway at Haydock and Lingfield as well as Curragh.
