Valladolid’s downtrend continued last round when they lost away at Bilbao 4-2. For a moment it looked like they are able to get at least 1 point, especially after being 1-0 up at half time. But in 2nd half Valladolid weren’t able to cope with all the pressure and simply collapsed (lost 4-2). The good news is that they finally managed to score in 2014…
Valladolid’s 4-3-3 system is not really suitable for a competition like Primera as there are too many open spaces in midfield that can be easily exploited by opponents. That is why currently they sit on the 18th place that will take them to Segunda Division, and have one of the worst defenses in the league with 37 goals conceded (1.85 goals per game).
Even if they use many players in the offensive phase Valladolid still have problems in creating dangerous chances and converting them.
Villareal on the other hand are doing great in 2014. They won all their 3 games in Primera this year and managed to score 4 goals per game… At the moment they are in 5th position that will take them to Europa League next season, but Villareal look set to climb further and have a shot at the 4th place (Champions League playoffs)
There are no new injuries so both teams will be able to use the same players as last round.
Motivation is there for both teams, but form and value are definitely on Villareal’s side. Villareal to win at evens from Stan James looks really good.
